Blindfold your guests and let the screams begin. You'll need some "props" for this game each placed in separate bowls. Happy Hauntings!
THE MISERLY MAN A Tale of Halloween Woe
Once upon a time in this very town
Lived a miserly man whose name was Brown
Alack and alas, on a Halloween night
He was terribly murdered because of spite
And ever since then he has roamed the earth
To warn and to haunt the place of his birth
Tonight we have some of his restless remains
So we'll make you acquainted at once with his .. BRAINS
(Begin passing wet sponge)
And now your shuddering touch will know
The victim's HAIR has continued to grow
(Pass corn silk, yarn or old wig)
He heard too well the tinkle of gold
It's powerful EAR that now you hold
(Pass dried apple or dried peach)
His HAND is clammy, cold and still
No longer can it shoot to kill
(Pass rubber glove filled with cold oatmeal)
His EYES were small, but very keen
Though the kind deed of earth they've never seen
(Pass peeled grape)
He talked a lot when he was young
Now your feeling the remains of his TONGUE
(Pass a raw oyster)
He was sly and cruel from the start
So now you'll feel his bleeding HEART
(Pass a raw piece of liver)
The TENDONS which helped his strong right arm
We pass to you, keep them from harm
(Pass some cooked spaghetti)
The meals he ate were coarse and dry
So his TEETH were strong, they never die
(Pass some dried kernels of corn)
But wait! He comes and stands within
He's hunting for some friends or kin
Listen closely and above his moans
You'll hear the rattle of his BONES! ( rattling a bunch of clothespins tied together loosely.
Exits with a moan. Lights on!)
(Lights on!)
You'll need some pie tins (1 for each person playing), gummy worms, and
cool whip. Put the same amount of worms in each pie tin, (the more the
better!) and cover with cool whip. Blindfold each player. Don't tell
what's in the pie, let them be surprised to find a worm dangling from
their mouths (have a camera ready).
At the word of "Go!" all players dip into the pie with their
mouths, trying to pull out as many worms as they can. The person to get
all the worms out of their pie wins.
This game is messy, but it's fun for the people playing as well as for
those watching! Go eat some worms. Worms are good for you, lots of
protein, low in fat, and eating worms will make you popular. Bon
appetite
You will need about 4 or more people (the more people the better),
paper, and a pen or pencil. Crumple up enough papers for each person to
have one. Leave all the papers blank except for one, where you will
write the word MURDERER. Everyone needs to take one paper and read it
in silence.
Sit in a circle and the murderer has to wink at the other people
without getting caught. (You need to be sneaky) If the people get
winked at they have to act dead. The other people have to guess who the
murderer is before he can wink at them. The winner is the person who
guesses who the murderer is. A wrong guess will "kill" that person, who
has to act dead too.
This game will kill ya.
Bobbing for Apples
Float apples in a large wash tub filled with water. The object of this game
is to grab one of the apples and remove it from the water without using your
hands. You must use only your mouth. This is a very messy, very wet, and very
fun game. It is even more challenging if the stems are removed from the apples.
Pass the Orange
Don't use your hands! Line up in teams. The first person in each team is
given an orange to place under his chin. He must pass the orange to the next
in line but neither may use his hands. The first team to get the orange all the
way to the last person is the winner. If the orange drops, just pick it up and
continue from there.
Halloween Word Scramble
This simple old parlor game that can be played individually or in pairs.
Give everyone paper and pencil. How many words can be made using only the
letters in "Halloween" or "Trick or Treat"? Use other Halloween words too like
October or anything you and your friends can think of!
The Grave Keeper
The last person left wins the game!
Choose one person to be the grave keeper. The grave keeper closes his/her eyes
and counts to ten while everyone else gets into a good frozen position and stands
very still. The grave keeper then walks around looking for anyone who moves. If
the grave keeper catches you moving (breathing doesn't count), you are out. You
can move positions when the gravekeeper's back is turned but don't get caught
moving. The last person left is the winner and can be the new grave keeper when
you play another round. Turn the lights down a little and play scary halloween
and graveyard music to really spook it up!
Pin the Nose on Humphrey
This game is a variation of Pin the Tail on
the Donkey.
First you will need to make the game. Draw and color a large Jack o' lantern on
posterboard or a large sheet of paper. Give him only a small circle for a nose.
Cut out several circles from blue construction paper. These will be Humphrey's
nose; that will help you decide how big the circles should be -- don't make them
too small. To the back of each circle place some double-sided tape or regular tape
you have formed into a small ring with the sticky-side out.
One at a time, each player is blindfolded and given a blue circle, turned around
three times, and then turned facing the direction of poor noseless Humphrey. The
player walks forward and still blindfolded places Humphrey's blue nose on the
drawing. The one getting the nose closest to where it should be is declared the winner.
Murder or Wink
One player is secretly designated the "murderer". This can be done by each player
drawing a piece of paper from a hat. They are all marked "victim" except for one
marked "murderer". Prepare only enough for the number of players. Alternatively,
the host can secretly tap one player to be the "murderer".
All players must sit in a circle and be able to see each participant's face
easily. The murderer tries to "kill" the other players by winking at them. If a
player is winked at, he or she must die (as dramatically as possible!).
A warning to the murderer: wink discreetly. A player who witnesses the crime
(and is not yet killed off) can become a "witness". This player shouts "Witness!"
and names the killer. If the witness is right, he or she is a winner, and a new
round starts. If the witness is wrong, however, that person also dies. A player
who has a hunch about the killer, may shout "Detective!" and guess the murderer's
identity. Beware! A wrong hunch results in that player also dying.
The murderer wins if all but one "victim" is killed off.
Note: "Victims" are forbidden to wink!
Wrapped Candies
Using a deep pan or tub (the longer the better) place various wrapped candies
all over bottom. Cover with cooked spaghetti noodles (color if you like). Each
child gets one grab in the slimy stuff! Have wet clothes ready to wipe candy
off and plastic bags to put them in.
Guess A Character
Select some famous characters like Dracula, Wolfman, etc. and put the characters
on name tags .. the twist is that the person wears the tag backwards and people
ask him/her questions about their character and have to try to guess what
other people are. When the character is finally guessed the tag is reversed (so people
can read it), the last one to be guessed is the winner!
Weird Clothes Relay
Take all the extra costume pieces, weird clothes, hats and all, then split them
up into 2 piles. The players are split into 2 teams and have a relay race where
a member from each team runs up to their pile, pulls out (without peeking) and
puts on 1 item, then after the item is completely on, that person runs back to
tag the next player, and so forth. The team that gets all the items on between
them is the winner!
Blind Mans Ghost
Get a deck of cards and pull out a number of cards equal to your guests, but
make sure one of them is the black joker (or other pre chosen card). The black
joker (or pre chosen card) is the ghost. Everyone forms a large circle
and turns facing outward with eyes closed. The ghost then sneaks into the center.
The ghost picks a person, sneaks up behind them and silently counts to five with
their hands outstreched. If the ghost reaches five, he grabs the person. Once the person
is grabbed they become a ghost too. Anyone can call out GHOST, if they think
someone is behind them... but if they're wrong they become a ghost too. Continue
until everyone is out or all ghosts are gone!
Note: "Non-Ghosts" must keep their eyes closed! Blindfolds would work great!
Murder in the Dark
Get a deck of cards and pull out a number of cards equal to your guests, but
make sure one of them is the black joker (or other pre chosen card). Everyone
pulls a card, the black joker is the murderer. Everyone sits down holding hands
and closes their eyes. The murderer starts by squeezing one persons hands any
number of times he wishes. That person in turn squeezes the next persons hand
one less. And so on, and so on. Until a person gets his hand squeezed just
once. Then that person dies--loudly and dramatically and freaks everyone out.
And then everyone holds hands again and closes their eyes. It starts again
with the murderer squeezing hands. People can guess who the murderer is at
anytime, but if they guess wrong their out!
Note: "Victims" must keep their eyes closed! Blindfolds work great!
